TAMILNADU SURVEY TRAINING INSTITUTE, ORATHANADU

INTRODUCTION

The Tamil Nadu Survey Training Institute was constituted mainly for imparting Survey Training for different grade of officials of various departments as well as officials of the Survey Department. Formerly Survey Training was given to Officers in different parts of the state as and when required. Due to inadequate facilities the above Institute was temporarily functioning within the complex of B.T. College at Orathanadu as per G.O. Ms. No.545 C.T.&R.E. dated 23.05.1984 . In the year 1993,Tamil Nadu Survey Training Institute blossomed as an Independent Training Institute as per G.O. M.S. No. 353 Revenue Department dated 27.02.1990 and became fully functional from 4.10.1993.

It is located on the Orathanadu-Thiruvonam Bye-pass Road. The Tamil Nadu Survey Training Institute is situated in survey number 111/1R 112 of Orathanadu Taluk and constitute an area of 23,755 Sq.m. This is the only Institute in the State imparting Survey Training to officials of Various Departments.


TRAINING ACTIVITIES

The Institute imparts Survey and Settlement training to the Revenue Officials, Survey Department Officials, I.A.S. Training probationers, Probationary Deputy Collectors, Sub-registrars, Employees of Co-operative Societies, Slum Clearance Board Employees, Employees of the Forest Department. An eligible list of personnel to undergo training is obtained from the Head of the Department/Collectors concerned and an intimation of training is sent to them in order to relieve the Training Personnel for Training.

   All the above officials undergo Practical Field Training as well as theoretical classes related to Survey. After completion of Survey Training (except Surveyors, Draftsman and VAOs) the officials are subject to Settlement Training . The official’s skill are put to test after completion of the training through practical and theoretical examinations and based on their performances, marks are given to the individuals and the mark list are sent to the Head of the Department concerned.


CAMPUS

Tamil Nadu Survey Training Institute, is one of the pioneer institute offering excellent facilities to the Training Personnel undergoing Training. It houses an administrative Office Block, which consists of Office Space as well as Classrooms for Conducting Theoretical classes. The classrooms are well equipped with latest infrastructure, and at present the institute has developed a state of the art Computer Laboratory using Latest Technology for plotting of FMB’s and Village Maps using CollabLand Software as well as a Smart Class-Room for Demonstration of Subjects related to Land Survey and Modern Equipments using Projectors and I.Q. Board . As far as for the Training Personnel the institute offers Hostel Facilities for High-Officials , Male and Female Employees separately, and mess facilities as well. Staff Quarters and Official Quarters too are located within the campus, in order to ensure welfare and support to the Training Personnel round the clock .
